new bracelets!

Hooray! My samples of our new children's hook bracelets have arrived! They look fantastic. I'm looking forward to introducing them this weekend. We're still in production with our jewelry caster to produce a larger version for adults. They'll be available for sale next month. And yes! I will have a precious little cross and in time for the First Communion season.

How could you not bring on a good mood wearing these vibrant colors? I'll have to remember that in February when the Seasonal Affective Disorder sets in! Enjoy it while you can, happy summer, happy weekend!

happy halloween

So I was wrong last week when I said I posted for the 100th time. Today is the day! I'm happy that I've continued with the process. It's just one of those little tricks I use to keep myself structured. Thanks for reading. This bracelet was made from a cane late winter/early spring but it reminds me more of Halloween.

Another spring creation. I think I was trying to will the sun to be stronger by using pinks and greens.

Last spring I created the cane I used for this bracelet. Funny, now that I think back - I was inspired by a pattern on my pajamas!

trying to be Toop like

I recently ran across a video from Cynthia Toops where she gives an overview of her process, and inspirations from some of her work. I'm so impressed by the craftsmanship of her work. From time to time I try to concentrate on the shapes and forms when I'm building something new. I'm obsessed with trying to form the perfect round bead - by hand. Way more difficult than you would think. On the bracelet to the left I fiddled with a donut/tire shape and tried to keep the beads the same size. I like the combination of the reds and blacks with the gold spacer beads.

Cuff Bracelets

I love the feel of a stretch cuff bracelet. 


The top cuff was one of the first canes I made. lots of fun. I used crushed gold leaf in the clay for an interesting look and a little bit of sparkle. The fourth bracelet uses a button closure. I like this look and I think I'll try it again on a few upcoming projects. 


The beads for all of these cuffs were made by using an outer layer of cane "fabric" -  it's the best way to describe how it looks when you make a sheet of cane slices. The beads are then pressed into a mold for uniformity.
